D 2016, 65 Min., 16:9
Common property – self-organization – solidarity – For many years now, there has existed a network of over 100 house projects in urban and rural areas, organizing the housing problem according to new values: the Mietshäuser Syndikat. In solidarity with others, financially weak groups can be empowered to secure and preserve affordable living spaces. People are getting more and more interested in this important initiative that emerged from the civil society.
In the 65-minute film “Das ist unser Haus!” – “This House is ours!,” members of the Mietshäuser Syndikat explain the model of collective appropriation of living space, presenting multifaceted projects in different regional contexts. The members of the audience are encouraged to start their own projects within the stable solidary network of the Mietshäuser Syndikat.
